23 Things for Archivists

Intermediate: Things 24-46

What if I Want More Things?

Finished with the first 23 Things for Archivists? Already knew about those 23? Here’s your opportunity to learn about 23 more Things!

Following are 23 more “Things” for you to explore, experiment with, and learn about the new and emerging technologies that are changing how information is used and created on the Internet today. Some of the “Things” might be useful in your work, some for sharing work (perhaps you serve on a committee), or for promoting your archives.

This is a self-discovery program that allows participants to take control of their own learning. You can work at home or at work, alone or in a group, at your own pace as you have time. You are encouraged to share your discoveries and insights with others through your blog postings.

Read each Thing in its entirety so you understand the activities. Feel free to skip a Thing if you are already familiar with it (but maybe blog about your experiences anyway).

The normal “side”bar is at the bottom of each page. There you will find the most recently posted comments, a place to have new entries sent directly to your e-mail inbox, and links to blogs you might want to use as resources.

If you did not do the first 23 Things, please go back to the Beginning section and do Things 1 and 2. Thing 1 will show you how to get and use Meebo and how you can contact a mentor to ask questions using real-time online chat. Thing 2 will show you how to set up and use a blog. It is a helpful part of the learning process to articulate what you learned about the Things and how you might use them for work or even for your personl life.

Now jump in and have fun learning!
